Before joining McKean Smith, Rick’s experience ranged from Civil Litigation to Business Formation and Intellectual Property Protection. While attending the University of Illinois College of Law, Rick was an active trial team competitor and coach. Following his success in regional and national competitions, he was awarded the prestigious Rickert Award for Excellence in Advocacy. Rick was privileged to clerk for the Clark County Superior Court, and upon graduation returned to the Pacific Northwest where he remains a strong advocate for families and businesses alike.

In his spare time, Rick is an avid cyclist and a member of the Oregon Bicycle Racing Association. He also enjoys playing trumpet in community ensembles.
