Full Bio

James Wriston is known for providing detailed and thorough advice and ardent advocacy for his clients. His practice includes business and real estate transactions, as well as family law and estate planning.

After relocating back to the Pacific Northwest, James’ practice was focused on family law matters that included estates with complex real estate and business issues. His practice is now focuses on transactional business and real estate matters.

Before joining McKean Smith, James worked in marketing and operations for a leading, national electronics recycler. He developed the company’s Pacific Northwest market and constructed their recycling facility in the Port of Vancouver. After returning to law school, he went on to join a family law firm in Vancouver, WA, where he used his background in business and real estate to assist clients to divide estates with complex financial interests.

“Every day small to medium sized businesses in our community face more and more legal challenges as they grow in size and complexity, which is why it’s important to have a trusted advisor you can rely on for timely and accurate advice.”

James is constantly searching out new and creative ways to assist and advise his clients in an everchanging business environment. He uses his background in business to see and understand his client’s challenges through their perspective because law doesn’t exist in a vacuum. The right solution may not always be a legal one.

When he’s not advocating on behalf of his clients, he likes to spend time with his wife, Whitney, who is a Physician Assistant in Vancouver, and his two-year-old son Tanner. James is also an accomplished sailor. He has participated in countless races on sailboats ranging from 24 to 52 feet.
